In the Eliza Doolittle Dialect Technique, Eliza Schneider uses the Suzuki ear-training method with her unparalleled library of native speakers from around the world aurally, visually, and kinesthetically locks her students into their chosen dialect. She applies cultural reference, local trends, mouth and muscle position techniques, repetition, and respelling, depending on how each individual learns best. Eliza Jane Schneider is best known for voicing eight regular characters on Comedy Central’s “South Park” and is one of the top dialect experts in the world. Please join us for this two-hour seminar where she will teach and discuss her techniques.

(For those whose first language is not English, please note any prior training in American accents or accent reduction you have had).

Please join instructor Geoff Fairbanks as he covers the technical aspects of working on-camera in this four-week class. The first class will focus on hitting your marks and staying in frame. The second class covers working with three-camera setups with rehearsal and blocking. The last two classes will resemble being on a working film set. Actors will do a master shot, coverage, close-ups, Two T’s., Over the shoulder, and simple physical action. The final scene will be a mutli-person scene that will tie everything together. This class is a must for any one who hasn’t had a chance to work on a film set. Actors are required to memorize material each week.
**Enrollment is strictly limited to 20 students chosen by the instructor at his discretion. The instructor strives for a diverse group of students, including a variety of experience, age, gender and ethnicity. We welcome all members to submit.
Please provide your member ID# along with a picture, resume and a brief paragraph (addressed to the instructor) stating your reasons for taking this class. Submissions without the paragraph will not be considered. All submissions must arrive at AFTRA no later than Monday, August 25th (sorry e-mail submissions will not be accepted). The Seasoned Readings Projects are staged readings of a stage or screen play written by a member of the WGA, featuring stories, themes and issues related to older citizens and performed by AFTRA/SAG membership featuring senior talent.
