FOUR WAYS TO FEED THE FRANK NELSON FUND

 

The Frank Nelson Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, separate from AFTRA, the union.  Its long-standing mission is to help qualified AFTRA members who face a crisis caused by illness, injury, or other emergency with temporary financial assistance for basic living needs.      

 

Your AFTRA dues do not support the Frank Nelson Fund.  Grants, individual contributions, bequests, distributions, and fundraising activities provide that support.  To keep the Frank Nelson Fund alive and well for those who need it, here’s what you can do to help: 

  • FEED THE FUND by making a tax deductible contribution by check, payable to “The Frank Nelson Fund”.   

  • FEED THE FUND by dropping your spare change in the Fund’s Pink Piggy  Bank.  Just see the Receptionist during business hours or ask your  meeting leader during evening/weekend AFTRA meetings.  Every little bit helps the Fund to fulfill its mission.  
  • FEED THE FUND by participating in the Ralphs and Food4Less Community Partners programs and using your Club Card(s) every time you shop. The current Ralph’s program ends August 31, and you’ll need to enroll or re-enroll by going online at www.Ralphs.com  to designate non profit #81306, AFTRA’s Frank Nelson Fund.  If  you don’t have access to a computer, call the Fund’s office at (323) 634-8104, and we’ll help.  (If you shop at Food4Less, you won’t need to re-enroll, but see the store’s  manager if you’re new to that program.)  Remember:  4% of your eligible grocery purchases will be donated by the stores to the Fund each time you use your Club Card(s) with no loss to you in service, discounts,  coupons, etc.  

  • FEED THE FUND by purchasing a $10 ticket from the Fund to Macy’s  Sherman Oaks, Beverly Center, or Pasadena store for “Passport In-Store Charity Shopping Day” on Saturday, September 29.  The Fund keeps 100% of the proceeds from its ticket sales, you get great prices on  merchandise (most at 10-20% off), and you can enter to win a $1,000 shopping spree using your ticket stub. The more shoppers the Fund  brings in, the greater its chance to qualify for bonus money from Macy’s.  So, even if you just want to window-shop on event day, be sure to enter the drawing using your ticket stub.
