AFTRA LOS ANGELES 2008 BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTION

AFTRA Los Angeles is conducting its 2008 secret mail ballot election for the offices of AFTRA Los Angeles Board of Directors – Actor (9 Positions); Announcer (1 Position); Dancer (1 Position); Newsperson (1 Position); Singer (3 Positions); Sportscaster (3 Positions).

The ballots will be counted at the date, time and place indicated below:

• Are You Interested in Being a Candidate for the AFTRA Los Angeles Board of Directors?

AFTRA Los Angeles Local Board members are elected by category. Candidates must have been members in good standing in the category they seek to represent for one year immediately preceding their candidacy and must have been employed by a signatory to render services in such category. Local Board terms are normally three-years in length but, in some instances, may be shorter to fill vacant terms. Terms begin July 1, 2008.

Members interested in being candidates for the AFTRA Los Angeles Local Board of Directors may qualify for the ballot by being named a candidate by the 2008 Nominating Committee or by qualifying as a candidate by obtaining a minimum of 35 signatures of AFTRA Los Angeles members in good standing on a nominating petition.

To Be Considered by the 2008 Nominating Committee: Members must call (323) 634-8131 to request to be considered by the 2008 Nominating Committee and/or to learn more about their interview schedule and to make an appointment to meet with them. The deadline for scheduling an appointment is Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at 3:00PM.

To Receive a Nominating Petition: Members who wish to receive a nominating petition for the 2008 AFTRA Los Angeles Board of Directors election should call (323) 634-8131. The deadline for qualifying by petition is Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at 5:30PM.

Eligibility to Vote: For your ballot to be valid and counted on the day of the tally, you must be an active member of AFTRA Los Angeles and have paid your April 2008 dues in full. You must pay any delinquencies by 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, in order to have your ballot counted. If you are not sure as to your status or to arrange for payment of your dues, please contact Meredith Snow, Director of Communications, AFTRA Los Angeles, at (323) 634-8131.

Ballots: Only active members in good standing will be mailed a ballot on May 7, 2008. Members who pay their delinquent dues on or  before 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, will be mailed a ballot. Members may contact Meredith Snow, Director of Communications, AFTRA Los Angeles, at (323) 634-8131 on or before 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 to request a ballot.
