Dear All:
It's been a long time in coming, but hopefully worth the wait. AFTRA New Orleans finally has its own AFTRA webpage up and running.
As we indicate elsewhere on our site, AFTRA had been very active networking with the Arts Council of New Orleans and co-sponsoring workshops for performers in our local market prior to Katrina. We were getting spectacular attendance and the programs were outstanding.
But as we have done with our own lives, we must move forward and we will continue our joint efforts with ACNO to train and improve market conditions for performers in New Orleans post Katrina.
We invite each of you use this site to seek information about AFTRA … your union. Please send all inquiries to neworleans@aftra.com and AFTRA staff will do their best to assist you.
Also, feel free to let us know what you have been doing in the marketplace. If you have a gripe or complaint let us know that too.
Finally, I would like to give special thanks to the people who have worked tirelessly to bring this project to fruition. Special thanks to Herta Suarez, AFTRA South East Regional Director, who has spearheaded this project and who has always been there offering her help, advice and support and to the local AFTRA members who worked exhaustively putting the site together, George Sanchez and Bob Pavlovich (now a Tri-State member). Special thanks go to Diana Boylston-Clark who also contributed her time and energy in its creation.
I have no doubt AFTRA New Orleans will be able to better meet your needs and concerns now.
Thank you. Here’s to a bright future for us all.
Charles J. Ferrara
President, AFTRA New Orleans
