Arts Council Receives AFTRA New Orleans Star Award
The Arts Council of New Orleans was one of three recipients of the 2007 Star Awards given by the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) New Orleans for their work on behalf of New Orleans performers, including providing professional development workshops, skills training, advocacy and development of NewOrleansVoices.com.
“We are honored to receive this recognition,” said Arts Council Interim President Mary Len Costa, “I’d be remiss if I didn’t thank Gene Meneray, Director of the Arts Business Program who spearheaded this project on behalf of the Arts Council. He and other council staff enthusiastically tackled the NewOrleansVoices.com project as a way of bringing much needed attention and opportunities to the talented performers from our region.” |
 | NewOrleansVoices.comis not a talent agency, rather it is a collaborative marketing tool created by AFTRA and the Arts Council of New Orleans that promotes experienced and fresh Louisiana-based voiceover talent who are available for commercial and broadcast productions. By utilizing the power of internet technology, these local performers are able to work virtually anywhere in the world yet never leave New Orleans.
Also receiving recognition were incoming AFTRA President and New Orleans Voices Project champion, Diana Boylston as well as outgoing AFTRA President Charles Ferrara.
