LAB DESCRIPTION: HOME STUDIOS PART II - PRO TOOLS 101

So you have your own Mbox, your Mic, and you downloaded the Pro Tools software to your computer… you are ready to work as a voice over talent, and send your work all over the world…

But wait! How do you open a session? And how do you record? How do you edit? Bounce to disc? What is that?

Do not panic, PRO TOOLS 101 Performers’ Lab is here for you.

Here you will learn the basics of how to record with Pro Tools, how to edit in Pro Tools and how to save and send your work all over the world with the help of the industry standard for voice over work.

You don’t have to be computer savvy, this will be a step by step session, and at the end of it, you’ll be ready to start working from you home studio.

NOTE: If you have a laptop, an Mbox and a Mic, we encourage bringing them, so you can follow in your own computer the step by step process.

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS

Memo Sauceda - In Mexico he worked as an actor, host and voice over talent. In Miami he has hosted shows for Univision, Telemundo and Galavision and had the morning drive in Romance 106.7 for two years. He works as an actor in sitcoms, soaps, theater, and does commercials on camera and off camera. Memo has 1 A.I.R. award and 3 Emmys.

Connie Zimet has had a varied career touching all segments of the entertainment business and the arts beginning at age eight. She has been a recording artist, successful jingle/studio singer as well as a successful voice actor for 40 years and a sought-after voice acting coach for over 25 years. She has taught workshops privately and at the University of Miami, Miami Dade College, UCLA, USC as well as for AFTRA and SAG in Miami and Los Angeles. As a singer and voice-over talent she has been heard on literally hundreds of thousands of commercials including Estee Lauder, Hanes Hose, Apple Computers, Burdines and The Vitamin Shoppe. Her book, Connie Zimet's VoiceOver Tool Box; All the Tools You Need to Build or Renovate A Career in Voiceovers." Is scheduled for release in the Spring of 2007. Connie is President of the Miami Local of AFTRA.

Dave Corey is involved in just about every aspect of the entertainment industry. His voice has been heard over the past quarter-century on thousands of radio and television commercials, local and national. His film and television experience spans over two decades, appearing in such television shows as "Miami Vice" to "America's Most Wanted" and "Walker, Texas Ranger." His recent film credits include "Bad Boys 2", "Analyze This", and the "Truman Show". Dave has appeared in dozens of professional theatre productions. In the last two years alone, he's performed as the infamous Scottish king, "Macbeth", and has been seen at Actors' Playhouse, Shores Theatre, Key West Theatre Festival, Florida Stage and Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Dave is immersed in union activities, serving as National Vice President of AFTRA for eight years, National Board Member of SAG and as a member of the Actors Equity Liaison Committee.

The Miami Dade College (MDC) offers more than 150 associate's degrees in areas such as: accounting, entertainment technology, foreign languages, mass communication and ...and many more. Some of these provide the first two years of college before transferring to a four-year college or university to earn a bachelor's degree. Others are two-year programs designed for immediate job entry. Exit Metrorail at Government Center and take the Metromover (Inner or
Outer Loop) to College/Bayside Station or College North Station.
From the North:
Take I-95 South and exit right onto NW 8th Street. Go straight to 5th
Street. Go seven blocks to NE 2nd Ave.
From the South:
Take US 1 to I-95 North and exit right onto NW 2nd Avenue. Go north two
blocks to NW 5th Street and turn right. Go east six blocks to NE 2nd
Avenue and turn right.
From the East:
Take MacArthur Causeway West and exit onto Biscayne Boulevard. Go south
eight blocks and turn right on NE 3rd Street.
From the West:
Take SR 836 East and exit onto I-395. Exit right onto NE 2nd Avenue. Go
