• CTVglobemedia Inc. Accepts CRTC CHUM Decision. CTVglobemedia Inc. has announced its acceptance of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) ruling of June 8th, regarding the transfer of effective control of CHUM Limited. "We are embracing this decision. The people of CHUM Limited have been in limbo for almost a year and it is in everyone's best interest to move forward and build a stronger Company from the combination of CTV and CHUM," said Ivan Fecan, President and Chief Executive Officer.
CTVglobemedia and CEO CTV Inc. CTVgm will retain the A-Channels and Access Alberta. As required by the CRTC, the Citytv stations will be divested. The saleof these stations to a pre-emptive bidder is being announced concurrently.
• CHUM Radio Stations (CKWW-AM/CKLW-AM/CIDR-FM/CIMX-FM) sold to BellGlobe Media Bell purchased CHUM ltd for $1.7 billion. The giant already owns CTV and is acquiring City and A-Channel Victoria as an attempt to strengthen their grip of national media. The Windsor CHUM stations collective bargaining agreement was being re-negotiated when the sell was announced. A contract agreement was reached and overwhelmingly ratified by the bargaining unit in December 2006.
