AFTRA National President Roberta Reardon and National Executive Director Kim Roberts Hedgpeth sent a group of letters to D.C. leaders Friday, urging them to take out a provision in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (H.R. 3590) which would seek to fund health care reform by taxing middle-class Americans' health benefits.
The letters, sent to leaders including President Obama, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), ask that the Senate adopt the approach taken by the House in the final health care legislation.
AFTRA members have long-supported and advocated for health care reform through the work of its national Legislative and Public Affairs Task Force member committee.
