AFTRA in Action

WIVB-TV4 (CBS) makes sure Buffalo’s important stories get told. The station’s hard-won reputation for compelling, valuable local reporting is what’s made WIVB the market’s leading newscast in all time slots. But the station owner, LIN Media, is undermining reporters’ ability to tell these stories. LIN is slashing station staff and pulling the resources necessary to deliver newscasts that Buffalo viewers expect. LIN Media is playing hardball with WIVB employees, who are standing up for good local journalism in Western New York, and penalizing anchors and reporters until they agree to cutbacks that weaken WIVB’s reporting.
