May 2007 Film Industry Community Night Tuesday, June 5 Wieden+Kennedy This is the third in a series of bi-monthly events bringing together the local media community to share ideas, meet new people and learn more about local events and opportunities. 7:00 – 7:20 Welcome and presentation by tonight’s program host, Northwest Film Center The Northwest Film Center's School of Film and Young Filmmakers Program have been helping filmmakers get a start for more than 30 years. See what the next generation are doing in NWFC school and residency programs as we screen some inspired work and reflect on the nurturing of up-and-coming young talent in the community. 7:20 - 8:30 Wieden+Kennedy: What are they up to in there? Think it's hard to get a legitimate media storytelling career or company launched out of Portland? Not so fast! Dan Wieden and David Kennedy were not exactly organized, sophisticated businessmen when they borrowed their first typewriter from Nike and started breaking the rules of media storytelling. Twenty-five years later, W+K has six offices on three continents, and is a great example of why Portland, more than most cities in the world, is home to people with a creative itch to scratch. Join us for a cold beverage and an informal talk with representatives of W+K Digital/Interactive, TV Broadcast, Joint (W+K's independently operated post- production company) and W+K Entertainment. W+K produces entertainment?! Yes. Movies, TV shows, books, etc. This is most definitely NOT a "panel of experts," but rather a two-way conversation among storytellers. Please join in. Collaboration starts with a sense of community. 8:30 on No-host after-mingle in the W+K atrium Series sponsored by: AFTRA, Art Institute of Portland, Film
Action Oregon, IATSE Local 488, Northwest Film Center, Oregon Film and
Video Office, Oregon Media Production Association, Portland Development
Commission, More info: 503.229.5832
