Patrick Swayze, a 23-year member of AFTRA, lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on Sept. 14 in Los Angeles.
An AFTRA “triple threat,” Swayze was an actor, singer and dancer, and was called "both a woman's fantasy and a man's man" by People magazine when he was named 1991’s “Sexiest Man Alive.”
He most recently appeared as the lead on the AFTRA-covered A&E program “The Beast” (pictured at right). He was a true professional and brave in his fight against his disease: even after he was diagnosed with cancer, he continued working on “The Beast” remaining committed to the program, the cast and his craft. Swayze was a distinguished entertainer from start to finish and willing to take risks others might not have taken.
We extend our sympathies to his family, friends and many fans around the world.
