On March 19th, the lights once again dimmed on Broadway. Natasha Richardson, long-time New York AFTRA member and a truly fine practitioner of the craft of acting, died from head injuries on March 18 after a skiing accident. She was 45.
Richardson was an Tony award-winning actress, a wife and a mother, and a 19-year AFTRA member. She was a truly talented artist whose light was extinguished far too soon.
Born into an acting dynasty, Richardson made her own way in the world, first appearing on American TV in the mini-series "Ellis Island." She moved to New York later in life with husband Liam Neeson, where she won a Tony for her portrayal of Sally Bowles in the Broadway revival of "Cabaret," and graced our stages again in 2005 in the revival of "A Streetcar Named Desire."
