On July 17, the nation lost one of the greatest newsmen it has ever known when Walter Cronkite passed away. He was 92.
An AFTRA member for 56 years, Cronkite was respected and loved by millions as the “most trusted man in America.”
From his heartbreaking announcement of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination to his joyful coverage of the Apollo 11 moon landing to his historic reporting on the Watergate scandal, Cronkite publicly shared in America’s sorrows, celebrations and coming of age.
He was the consummate professional broadcast journalist and an asset to the profession.
