AFTRA Remembers the AMPTP's Counter

The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) released the following statement today from President Roberta Reardon and National Executive Director Kim Roberts Hedgpeth on the passing of J. Nicholas Counter, longtime president of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP):

“Today, we remember Nick Counter for his many years of principled leadership as president of the AMPTP. In every negotiation, Nick balanced his responsibility to his constituents with an approach to organized labor that was always respectful, fair-minded and honest. He was that rare find: a man of his word. Through his commendable service as a Trustee of both the AFTRA Health & Retirement Funds and the AFTRA-Industry Cooperative Fund, Nick ‘labored for labor,’ seeking always to enrich AFTRA members’ contributions to and success in the entertainment and media industries. We mourn his passing, and we extend our deepest heartfelt sympathies to Nick’s family and friends.”
